ユネスコ日本政府代表部によりますと、東京・上野の国立西洋美術館について、ユネスコの諮問機関が「世界文化遺産に登録することがふさわしい」とする勧告をまとめたことがわかりました。
上野にある国立西洋美術館は「近代建築の巨匠」と呼ばれたフランス人の建築家、ル・コルビュジエが設計した日本で唯一の建造物です。日本やフランスなど７か国は、コルビュジエが２０世紀の世界中の建築や都市計画に大きな影響を与えたとして、世界文化遺産への登録を目指し合わせて１７の作品を共同で推薦しています。
イコモスの勧告は世界遺産に登録するかどうかの最終判断に大きな影響を与えることから、国立西洋美術館はことし７月にトルコで開かれるユネスコの世界遺産委員会で正式に登録される見通しとなりました。

Museum to be registered as World Heritage Site
The main building of Japan’s National Museum of Western Art is expected to be registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site as early as July.
Officials of Japan’s Cultural Affairs Agency say the International Council on Monuments and Sites, a UNESCO advisory panel, has recommended listing the building.
The building, located in Tokyo, is the only structure that French architect Le Corbusier ever designed in Japan. He is recognized as the grand master of modern architecture.
Japan, France and 5 other nations had jointly nominated 17 works by Corbusier in their countries as a single entry on the World Heritage List.
The countries say Corbusier greatly influenced the development of 20th century modern architecture and town planning.
The advisory panel’s recommendation strongly influences UNESCO’s selection process for World Heritage sites.
The national museum is likely to be officially listed in July when the UNESCO World Heritage Committee meets in Turkey
